Institutional Only

Public TOEIC Results are usually wanted for entry to foreign universities, the institutional version is not.
TOEFL PBT results (or iBT) are wanted for entry to an English-speaking university. The ITP / institutional version is not.

Testing Individuals

Individual students often take the TOEIC or TOEFL Institutional Testing Program (ITP) tests. Organisations such as language schools, colleges, universities and immigrant agencies can provide tests to their own students on a sign-up basis.

A minimum of three students is required for each TOEIC or TOEFL ITP administration.

Tracking Student Progress (self tracking)

Students can use these tests to assess their current English level and track their progress. They may also know their TOEIC scores before they start their study abroad.

Each candidate receives an Official Institutional Score Report, valid in the country where it was taken

Students can use ETS results to clarify their School Results

A student may already use their English school course graduation results in their resume. Adding an Institutional ETS Score, while endorsed by the school and not ETS, can clarify what level they are performing at.

The TOEIC and TOEFL ITP are both understood scores, and also mapped to the CEFR.

Public Testing

If a student is asking to be tested for a work or university application, they are likely to be asking for an Public Test. Ask them what their institution requires.

You can direct students to take a Public TOEIC Test for a global certification of workplace competency and admission to many non-English speaking Universities, or the TOEFL iBT for admission to English speaking Universities.
